Before reading about ADHD, either for yourself or for a loved one, it's important that you understand that each individual has different symptoms. There are three different types of ADHD:
Inattentive type: Characterized by inattention and distractibility without hyperactivity. This is more commonly known as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder).
Hyperactive type: Characterized by impulsive and hyperactive behavior without inattention.
Combined type: Characterized by inattention, distractibility, hyperactivity, and impulsive behavior (this is the most common type of ADHD).
Personally, I'm inattentive type, which made it much harder for me to actually identify whether or not I had ADHD. However, those who have inattentive type probably don't have all the difficulties I have. I believe that it's important not to hold individuals with ADHD to the standard of their "type."
